Weihao Magnesium Powder Company Participates in Drafting National Standard for "Magnesium and Magnesium Alloy Powders for Additive Manufacturing," Driving High-Quality Industry Development

June 29, 2024 — The Magnesium and Magnesium Alloy Powders for Additive Manufacturing (GB/T 44151-2024) national standard was officially released by the SAMR and the SAC. As a core drafting unit of this standard, Tangshan Weihao Magnesium Powder Co., Ltd. leveraged its technical expertise in advanced metal powder materials to play a key role in the formulation process, marking a new phase of standardization and internationalization for magnesium-based materials in China’s additive manufacturing. The new standard had been taken full effect on January 1, 2025.

New Mg Powder Standards Boost Additive Manufacturing
As a "strategic material" for lightweight manufacturing, the performance of magnesium and magnesium alloy powders directly impacts the strength, precision, and reliability of 3D-printed components. The GB/T 44151-2024 standard systematically defines core technical specifications for additive manufacturing-grade magnesium powders for the first time, including chemical composition, particle size distribution, and sphericity.
