Magnesium powder can be mainly divided into magnesium carbonate and atomized spherical magnesium powder. Magnesium carbonate is mainly used in some sports such as weightlifting and gymnastics. Athletes can use magnesium carbonate on their bodies or feet to prevent slipping and increase friction. The atomized spherical magnesium powder refers to the spherical atomized powder made by melting magnesium ingot at high temperature, adopting centrifugal atomization technology under the protection of inert gas and through various processes. It has the advantages of high active magnesium content, good sphericity, large bulk density, good fluidity, small specific surface area, etc. It can be widely used in many high-tech research fields such as national defense industry, petrochemical industry, aerospace, new functional materials, medicine, fireworks, food, etc. It has incomparable advantages over traditional mechanical milling method of magnesium powder.

Like aluminum powder, magnesium powder will spontaneously ignite and explode when it is damped. When every liter of air contains 10-25 mg of magnesium powder, it will explode in case of fire. If a fire occurs due to magnesium powder, it is very difficult to deal with it. The main characteristics of magnesium powder fire accidents are fierce combustion, difficult control, high flame temperature, high risk of burns, dazzling fire, vision damage, high explosion risk, buildings collapse easily, dense smoke in the fire site, which seriously affect fire fighting operations. Once the magnesium powder becomes a disaster, the fire brigade's standing fire extinguishing agent can hardly deal with it.

In addition, magnesium powder is also harmful to human body. Magnesium powder is a kind of powder, which is irritant to eyes, upper respiratory tract and skin. Inhalation may cause cough, chest pain, etc. Oral administration is harmful to the body. If the human body absorbs too much magnesium powder, it is likely to cause dyspnea and eventually die of exhaustion.

Through the unremitting efforts of the R&D team of Tangshan Weihao Magnesium Powder Co., Ltd., on the basis of its own patent for invention of atomized magnesium powder, another major technological breakthrough has been achieved, in which a new product of nanocrystalline high-purity atomized spherical magnesium alloy powder was developed. The particle size range of the product was further improved. The size of nanocrystals mainly ranges from 100 to 3000nm, with concentrated distribution, active metal content greater than 98.5%, and the sphericity greater than 95%. The room temperature mechanical properties of the components prepared by high pressure forming and spark plasma sintering through AZ91 magnesium alloy powder in the series products (pressing temperature 250℃, sintering temperature 300℃) are as follows: Tensile strength 420MPa, yield strength 390Mpa, grain size of the components 100-300nm. The mechanical properties of the components prepared by the warm pressing sintering method through ZK61 magnesium alloy powder (temperature 300℃ and pressure load 1000KN) are as follows: Tensile strength 410 Mpa, yield strength 380 MPa, elongation rate 9.5%, and the grain size of the component ranging from 100 to 300nm. The mechanical properties of the components are better than that of ordinary atomized powder.
